Come and see ‘A SleepWalk on the Severn’ a spellbinding show, inspired by Alice Oswald’s poem and performed by TaurusVoice theatre company. It animates the many voices and moods, watery stories and songs of the mighty River Severn under the changing moon. Weaving music and poetry into a unique performance, the show dramatises Alice’s poem - making literature live for audiences and fun for families.
The scene is set at night on the Severn Estuary and brings alive the Moon and her Dream Secretary as they illuminate and capture the lives of local characters living along the river. Come and meet the eel fisherman and Reverend Crawley, moody girls and tattooed sailors, the cycling bird watcher and murderous goose hunter! Alice Oswald's poem has been commissioned for the Severn Project festival and is published by Faber & Faber.
There is a special performance of ‘A Sleepwalk on the Severn’ at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury on 20th June at 7pm. It includes a performance of River Songs by community choirs – a magical cycle of songs composed by Pete Rosser, commissioned by Gloucestershire Music for the Severn Project. Tickets: £9 and £6.
